A new patent application has been filed by Apple [AAPL] that shows a new camera system.
The new camera system uses a new camera flash that is optimised based on what the subject of the scene is. By using a flash redirector, imaging sensors that sense conditions and a touchscreen, it aims to capture better pictures.
The system might be used to direct more light to the dark parts of a photo to more evenly light the scene. If a dark spot is seen on the touchscreen, you could just tap to illuminate the dark portion. [Read more…]

The Google Chrome Web Store looks like its preparing to go live shortly. The reason for thinking this is that Google [GOOG] has started to ask US developers to start linking their apps up to Google Checkout merchant accounts so that they can preview what the app will look like when it goes live in the store.

Adobe has created a new system for computational photography that uses a plenoptic lens to capture subjects. What makes this particular set up different is that it can capture a subject and then process the photograph afterwords to get the correct part of the picture in focus.
