The Google Chrome Web Store looks like its preparing to go live shortly. The reason for thinking this is that Google [GOOG] has started to ask US developers to start linking their apps up to Google Checkout merchant accounts so that they can preview what the app will look like when it goes live in the store.
Guidelines have also been released by Google to explain the process of uploading to the web store along with details on backgrounds, screenshots as well as icons and promotional images.
It isn’t clear when the Web Store will be opened by Google, but it looks to be getting closer, perhaps with in the next few weeks at a guess.
