ioSafe SoloPRO Announced

ioSafe has announced a new series of rugged hard drive enclosures called the ioSafe SoloPRO. When we call the ioSafe rugged, we mean that it can withstand a fire, being dunked in water as well as a fair bit of physical abuse whilst still keep the data inside it completely safe.

Our ioSafe Solo review scored the external hard drive quite well. Since our review, which was just over a year ago, a new SSD model has arrived. This even new model (the SoloPRO) improves on the past models.

iSketch for iPad Concept

If you like to use your iPad for drawing (with various apps), but prefer to sit it on a desk then you face the problem of the rounded back making it wobble around a tad.

What the iSketch concept aims to achieve is a platform which the iPad can sit or dock in to that sits the iPad flat on a desk. The iSketch dock has a docking port inside to allow the iPad to stay charged.

The accompanying sketch pen and plenty of sketching apps make it feel like creative-utopia for the moment, but only time and a real-life product review will tell if it’s worth the effort or not!

EpicWin iPhone App Makes your To-Do List an RPG

If you use a task list or to-do list as it is also known as, you might be like many people in that your tasks just stay on the list and never actually get done.

Sony a33 and a55 Swivel Screen DSLRs Unveiled

Some pictures of a couple of new Digital SLR cameras from Sony have been found by the Photorumours website. The two new models are the Sony a33 and the Sony a55.

Each camera uses a pellicle mirror to split the light in two directions when pictures are captured. For details on what that means, you can check out this Wikipedia article or see a basic break down below…

A pellicle camera uses a semi-transparent mirror within the light path splitting the incoming picture light beam into two separate beams, both of reduced light intensity. Allowing the light beams to be used for more purposes simultaneously.

Motorola Charm Going to T-Mobile on August 25

Next week, Motorola will launched the Motorola Charm mobile phone. The Charm will launch on August 25 on to the T-Mobile network. Price wise, it will cost $74.99 along with a contract.

The Motorola Charm is a QWERTY Android smartphone that has a small screen up top with a keyboard below it. The screen is in landscape mode and has capacitive touch from what we can see in the video. On the back is a 3 megapixel camera. [Read more…]

Galaxy S GPS Problems fixed on Samsung EPIC 4G

The Samsung Galaxy S has a problem with it’s GPS. The problem is that it can’t get an accurate fix on the smartphone. Instead it either cannot find you, lists you a street or two away, or sometimes lists you in a completely separate town.

A fix for this problem which causes problems on ALL Galaxy S smartphones is coming next month from what Samsung tell us.

For those who are opting to get a Samsung Epic 4G (another variant of the Galaxy S class of phones), this problem has already been fixed. [Read more…]

Canon EOS 7DSV Studio Version Announced

Canon has announced a new version of the Canon EOS 7D called the 7DSV which means Studio Version.

New features within the camera include an optional barcode solution as well as a locking feature that gives admin control over the camera.

The Locking feature on the EOS 7D allows an administrator to lock/disable various functions and settings on a camera which essentially only gives the user the options they need to complete a job. Four different lock levels are allowed that disable various aspects of the camera.

Custom functionality management is also achieved through each level by unlocking individual features according to operator-specific needs. This complete level of control is guarded by a daily password preventing anyone with a different vision from changing the camera settings and disrupting the overall project and workflow.

Skype Mobile Hitting Non-Smartphones on Verizon

Earlier this year, Verizon [VZ] started allowing some smartphones to run the Skype software. Since the launch the software has been restricted to working on a specific range of phones and none others.

It appears now that Verizon are opening up a little by allowing the software to run on non-smartphone devices. A few devices have started showing up on the Verizon database as being compatible. It isn’t clear who let them through the system (ie, Skype or Verizon) but it looks like a change of heart as Engadget words it. [Read more…]

iPhone 3G and 3GS Gets a Star Wars R2-D2 Case

For those Star Wars fans who are not ready to let go of their iPhone 3G or 3GS in favour of the Motorola DROID 2 R2-D2 version, the Star Wars site is taking pre-orders for an R2-D2 case that is styled to look like R2-D2.

The case is hard and has sculpted details according to the Star Wars website.

Price wise, it will set you back $30 and will be shipping in October of this year.

Google Chrome OS Tablet Release Date November 26 on Verizon – Rumor

Today, a rumour is circulating about the Google Chrome OS tablet release date. The rumours indicate that a Google Tablet running Chrome OS could be launching over at Verizon [VZ] on November 26.

November 26th this year is Black Friday which would be a very busy but good day for Google [GOOG] to launch such a product.

Some likely specs that could be seen on a Google Tablet include Chrome OS, Tegra 2 graphics, a 1280 x 720 multitouch screen, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD and for connectivity it is expected to have Wireless (probably 802.11n), Bluetooth and 3G. Webcams are also mentioned. [Read more…]

Google Calendar Outlook 2010 Sync Now Available

Google [GOOG] has updated it’s Calendar Sync tool that now makes it possible to synchronise an Outlook 2010 calendar with Google Calendar.

The software previously only worked with Outlook versions up to 2007. The new version isn’t fully compatible just yet in that it cannot support 64 bit versions of Outlook 2010. However, if you run the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010 then you now have that much requested ability to synchronise the two together. [Read more…]

Chrome Web Store Available October 2010

Google [GOOG] is launching the Chrome Web Store soon with the expected launch date to be sometime in October of this year.

This move indicates that Chrome OS netbooks and possibly tablets will all start appearing either around or shortly after the launch of the Chrome Web Store.

From what we understand, Google will be charging developers a 5 percent processing fee for apps which is quite a bit cheaper than other app stores which can go up to 30 percent. [Read more…]
