Apple iPad Has 95% Market Share

Reports are suggesting that the Apple iPad is responsible for 95% of the tablet market at the moment. This comes as no real surprise as so far as its not really had much competition up till now.

However, this dramatic lead is expected to shift over the next few months as a bunch of Android tablets are getting launched. The main product to look out for at the moment is the Samsung Galaxy Tab that launched in the UK yesterday and is following soon in the US within the next week or two. [Read more…]

Creative ZIIO 7 and 10 Inch Tablets Unveiled

Creative has unveiled the Creative ZIIO. The ZIIO comes in two sizes with one having a 7 inch screen and the other having a 10 inch screen.

The 7 inch model is white and uses a resistive touchscreen. The resolution is 480 x 800 pixels. The 10 inch version has a higher resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

Inside the 7 inch model a ZiiLabs ZMS-08 CPI can be found. This particular set of tablets run Android 2.1. [Read more…]

Redsn0w iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Now Available

The Redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 4.1 has been released. This particular iOS 4.1 jailbreak is compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, Apple TV (second gen), iPad and iPod touch.

It looks like geohot’s recent limera1n exploit for iPhone3GS/iPhone4/iPad/ipt3g/ipt4g/atv2g will be very beneficial to jailbreakers and unlockers for the next few months (at least). geohot’s limera1n program and the alternative greenpois1on program both use his same exploit (although greenpois0n refuses to tell you that, FWIW), and hopefully SHAtter can be saved for some later device.

iPhone 4 Landing on Target

Target has announced that it will be selling both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 as of November 7th.

Target will be selling the iPhone in 846 stores around the US although its best to check with your local store as not all of them will be selling the smartphone. [Read more…]

Google Chrome OS SmartBook Could Land This Month

Digitimes is reporting that Google [GOOG] could be launching a Google Chrome OS smartbook this month. The report indicates that Google will be using a similar strategy to how the Nexus One was created. Ie, another company created the Google branded hardware.

Google’s Chrome notebook is expected to be manufactured by Inventec with initial shipments to reach 60,000-70,000 units. The Google Chrome notebook will feature an ARM-based platform and will not be selling through retail channels.

iOS 4.2 Release Date Getting Closer – 4.2 Goes Gold

Apple [AAPL] has released the latest version of iOS 4.2 to developers. The latest version has received GM status and was made available to developers last night. What this means is that the final public release is just around the corner, perhaps this week when Apple holds its secret meeting with developers.

The iOS 4.2 update will be made available to those with an iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 as well as the second, third and forth generations of iPod touch as well as the iPad of course. [Read more…]

Fable 3 at Top of UK Sales Charts

In spite of receiving, not so raving reviews, it seems this hasn’t halted Fable 3’s rise to the top of the gaming charts as it has now made number one in it’s first week.

Fable 3 revolves around two siblings (the offspring of the previous Albion hero) the older brother plays the tyrant who reigns over Albion with oppression and intolerance while the younger sibling begins a long journey to lead a revolution and depose the brother as king and take his place. Sprint 4G Network Switched on in NYC

Sprint [S] announced today that it has launched its 4G network for customers based in New York City, Hartford, New Haven, New Brunswick, Trenton and Tampa.

The new 4G services allow users in those areas (with the correct and compatible phones), to download data at up to ten times the speed of a 3G connection. [Read more…]

Flexible AMOLED Screen Measures 0.1mm Thin

The screen seen above is an AMOLED screen that is flexible. It measures just 0.1mm in thickness.

The screen is believed to be the worlds thinnest of its kind with others measuring 0.3mm in thickness. It was built by ITRI who is a Taiwanese research company. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone Landing Early 2011 According to Fortune

According to a report at Fortune, the Verizon [VZ] iPhone 4 will be landing early in 2011. There have been (according to Verizon), a number of meetings between Apple [AAPL] and Verizon for a number of years. That coupled with Verizon now selling the iPad seems to indicate that the device could be landing soon.

The Fortune article is certainly worth a read as it goes fairly in depth in to Verizon as a company and what can be expected from the network when it lands. [Read more…]

Sony Ericsson X10 Android 2.1 Update Rolling Out

Sony Ericsson is beginning to roll out the Android 2.1 update for various Xperia smartphones. The list includes the Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro lineup.

The roll-out has started already, but rather than pushing it out to all handsets, Sony Ericsson is rolling it out to various “kits” as they refer to them as. A Kit is described as being a different variation of the phone which includes colours, accessories bundled etc…

The roll-out will take about a month to hit all handsets, so if you don’t get a notification now then you’ll just need to wait longer till its your turn. [Read more…]
