LG BL40 Chocolate Review

by Matthew on October 19, 2009

LG BL40 Chocolate Review 300x200 LG BL40 Chocolate ReviewThe LG BL40 Chocolate mobile phone is unique due to it’s cinematic widescreen display that has an aspect ratio of 21:9 allowing it to play feature length movies with no borders top or bottom. With the BL40 having a large aspect ratio screen the phone is longer than your average mobile phone and though pictures seem to show the phone being a little over sized, when holding it you’ll find that it actually works very well and sits in your pocket very well.

The front of the phone is covered in tempered glass and has a nice glossy shine to it. There are no buttons on the front of the device and it’s just a smooth piece of glass that has just the ear speaker cut out. Both the top and bottom ends of the phone are accented in a vibrant red while the sides continue on the glossy black look of the front along with a thin silver strip that runs the length of the phone on each side. On the back of the phone the black gloss look is continued with just a small cut out for the 5 megapixel camera lens, flash and a small microphone. [click to continue…]

sidekick data 300x277 SideKick Data Recovered Well, Most, If not AllIf you were mixed in with the sidekick data loss problems of recent days then all might be ok thanks to most, if not all of the data being recovered. The outage was cause by a system failure that basically lost user data that included contacts, messages, photos, calendar, tasks and high scores on a number of users phones.

We are pleased to report that we have recovered most, if not all, customer data for those Sidekick customers whose data was affected by the recent outage. We plan to begin restoring users’ personal data as soon as possible, starting with personal contacts, after we have validated the data and our restoration plan. We will then continue to work around the clock to restore data to all affected users, including calendar, notes, tasks, photographs and high scores, as quickly as possible.

aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock Review

by Matthew on September 19, 2009

aXbo Alarm Clock Light 300x200 aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock ReviewWaking up in the morning is perhaps one of the most annoying parts of the day. Nobody likes to wake up at the wrong time feeling like they just need that few minutes extra sleep. The aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm clock was designed to tackle that problem by analysing your sleep patterns through the night and waking you up at a time where you are not in the middle of a deep sleep. By waking up at the right time it prevents the groggy feeling you get sometimes in the morning.

We were given an aXbo alarm clock to test for a couple of weeks to see how it performs and if it works as well as it claims it does. In short, it seems to do what it says on the box in that each morning I woke up I never seemed to wake up in the middle of a deep sleep. Lets take a closer look though to see how it actually works and what it actually does to prevent the groggy mornings. [click to continue…]

Garmin Nuvi 265 WT GPS Speed Tested

by Matthew on August 24, 2009

Garmin Nuvi GPS 300x214 Garmin Nuvi 265 WT GPS Speed TestedIf you are looking for a sat nav device that can track speeds over 500MPH then the Garmin Nuvi 265 WT was tested by it’s owner at speeds over 500MPH. To achieve this they went aboard a Cessna 750 private jet, attached it to the window and the device was capable of still being tracked.

Although 500+ seems like a nice speed to track in reality, from my understanding, GPS units can be tracked at speeds quite far above that, but still it’s still strangely interesting to see that it can be done. [click to continue…]

USB Hub Alarm Clock

by Matthew on August 20, 2009

usb alarm clock 300x192 USB Hub Alarm ClockI really don’t get the point of the USB Hub Alarm Clock. I just don’t remember a time when an alarm clock woke me up and I had the sudden urge to connect up 4 USB devices to it… but I guess the creators have done their research and found there is a need for such a device. With it being an alarm clock you would expect it’s for the side of your bed, but as it’s a hub does it sit with your PC on the desk? If so, doesn’t your computer tell the time anyway? Confusing!

The USB Hub Alarm clock does actually look really good despite the strange part about the USB connectors. It has the ability to show you the time in 25 different cities around the world. [click to continue…]
