Seagate 750GB Drives Delivered to DVR Manufacturers
September 25, 2006
Seagate have started to deliver their perpendicular drives with the highest capacity (The DB35) to DVR and digital entertainment manufacturers. The DB35 drives are now available in capacities of 250, 320, 400, 500 and 750GB and are optimised to give the highest performance for digital entertainment delivery systems.

Perpendicular drives offer far more storage on the single disk. The reason this is possible is due to how the medium stores it’s data. More details can be found over at Wikipedia. Just to give an idea of how much TV 750Gb can store… for regular TV it equates to 750 hours of recording. For high def TV thats 125 hours.
With this news I can see a great future for DVR and leading on in to IPTV.
