MP3 YoYo

The REGEN is a battery less MP3 player. You are now asking… how does it get it’s power? Of course you use it as a yo-yo to give it the power you need to listen to MP3’s. It can store up to 200 songs on it’s harddrive and has a touch screen LCD which you can select your music to play.

Expect to have to yo-yo around 10 – 12 throws to get enough power to use the device. The headphones are bluetooth so there is no worries about your yo-yo pulling them out of your ears.

X-Twin Bi-Plane

Firebox has put on sale another cool rc flying thing. Similar to the Picoz Micro Helicopter we reviewed a few days ago, this one is now a small bi-plane which has 2 props to keep it flying in the air. Nice little living room present I think 🙂

X-Twin Plane

The Plane
It’s light… at just 20 grammes and has a wingspan of a mere 9″ (3″ short of a foot for those who struggled at maths). It’s made out of some type of foam. With it being made of such a lite material then those who struggle to keep this in the air will be glad to know it generally wont break if you crash the thing.

Controls
The X-Twin plane is easy to control. It has a smart handheld transmitter which also is used to charge the plane. It flys for around 15 minutes which is plenty of fun to be had.

Small Plane

Over all I am impressed with the new range of indoor flying things that are coming out. A couple of years back it was the mini cars (Bit char-g) and now they have taken it the next step on and allowed us to fly around the house 🙂 Ok, we could do that with the expensive toys but how quick would you break the toy and the living room if you tried that? 🙂

X-Twin

Go pick one up now from Firebox and have a laugh in your living room or in the office. To make it even cooler there are 2 frequencies available so 2 people can fly together. How cute!

ATI Radeon X1950 XTX

The latest and most powerful graphics card has been made by ATI. It’s the ATI Radeon X1950 XTX and it has a lot to be proud of. It boasts a 512Mb of 2Ghz GDDR4 memory, runs 48-pixel shaders and eight vertex shaders. What does all that mean? Well, it’s fast. Previous ATI high end cards suffered with a noisey fan but this has now been fixed. The price is a nice $449 which is not bad and very competitive with todays cards. A more indepth review can be found below.

Evel Knievel Stunt Set

Evel Knievel returns in the form of a toy! For those who do not remember who Evel Knievel is then where have you been? Evel Knievel was a stunt biker. He jumped London Buses, went down canyons at serious speed and jumped buildings. The toy from yesteryear was cool too! It sold like crazy!

The toy is back and now comes with a whole Stunt set known as the “Eval Knievel Stunt Set”.

Evel Knievel

It is made from the original moulds that were used previously. It comes with Evel Knievel and a removable helmet, his bike, energiser, adjustable ramps, hoop of fire (fire not included), a 14 pieve brick wall and other bits and bobs too.

Evel Knievel Animation

The whole Evel Knievel Stunt Set is available for just £29.95. Another great toy to enjoy!

Vonage

I recently moved home and decided rather then paying £10/Month for the phone line I would pay £7.99/Month for Vonage so I could use VOIP. With this offer I get unlimited calls to landlines, cheap international calls and cheap calls to mobiles. With Telewest (my internet provider) I would have to pay extra on top of the £10/Month to get cheap calls to the US and free calls in the UK. I estimate £5 – £10 savings per month which is not bad!

I must admit, I am impressed with the service offered by Vonage. I ordered Monday night a couple of weeks back and the equipment was delivered Wednesday (just 2 days later… well 1 if you dont count Monday with me ordering after close of business). I received a new router (the Motorola VT2442), connected it and it fired up right away. It seems like the Vonage service just needs the MAC address of the new router and ties it to your account/number. No matter which internet connection I plug the adapter in to I can receive calls on my new UK landline number. Fantastic!

Calls so far have been clear and reliable. I decided to use cordless phones from Philips and connect them to the phone adapter. No problems there either. Some report problems with wi-fi using the same frequencies but I have not had that problem with my wifi network and cordless phones. It would be worth checking out to see if your phone is compatible though if you use wi-fi.

My overall rating… 5 *’s 🙂

Samsung SGH-X820

The Samsung SGH-X820 is an ultraslim phone which measures at just 6.9mm thick. Thats very slim! It has a 2″ LCD display, 2 Megapixel camera, bluetooth, music, tv out and more. The display is very impressive and the functions make it nice to use. One weird problem is that it wont ring and vibrate at the same time.

Dal Nippon Transparent Projector Screen with Built-in Speaker

Dal Nippon printing Japan has introduced the transparent projector screen. It also can deliver sound by using the screen as a speaker which seems like a similar idea to the whispering windows that you might have come across before. The screen is around 2mm thick and has SoundVu vibration modules on each side of the screen. The screen needs to be hanging when using sound.

The sceeen is 46″ and weighs just 2.5Kg. It will be on the market for around $4000.

It works by dripping flourecent water from a brass pipe and then shining some bright LED’s while the strobe which makes the drops of water glow green and look like they are moving upwards, stationary or downwards at any speed.

All cool!! Check out the screen shots and video.
