As well as announcing all the numbers for Mac, iPad and iPhone sales in the quarterly earnings call yesterday, Apple also announced that 25 million new users had signed up to iCloud taking the total of users up to 150 million.

Apple has announced that the OS X Mountain Lion release date will be today. The announcement came as expected in the quarterly earnings call held yesterday.
“We’re thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We’ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we’ve got in the pipeline.”
Raspberry Pi Powered Universal Translator Created

The video below shows a Raspberry Pi powered universal translator. The setup includes two RPi units along with one user wearing a Vuzix headset so that words are put in the users vision. Bluetooth mics are used to send the voice to a Microsoft translation service which replies and then puts the response in your language on the screen.

One of the big changes, other than a change of dock connector, is that the device might include a larger 4 inch screen. Apple has made a few changes to the app store on iOS 6. As well as a new look, Apple also dumped the need for you to enter a password when downloading updates for apps. In the beta 3 version which launched last week, Apple also got rid of the need to enter a password when downloading a free app from the app store.

Nano-SIMs Being Tested for Next Gen Smartphones

Next generation smartphones, which could include the yet to be announced iPhone 5 and perhaps a new Nexus model from Google, could be getting Nano SIMs instead of micro SIMs. When Apple launched the iPad and iPhone 4, the company opted to use microSIMs which are essentially the same as full SIMs but with a lot of the wasted plastic cut off from around the edges.
We now hear that nano-SIMs are being tested by Apple for the next generation of devices due to launch over the coming months.
iOS 5.1 On All Devices Jailbroken

pod2g has managed to jailbreak a 3rd gen iPad running iOS 5.1. The jailbreak is still rough around the edges and isn’t ready for launch, but from what we understand, it will be capable of jaialbreaking any iOS 5.1 device which includes the iPhone 4S.
iPhoto for iOS Sees 1 Million Downloads Since Launch

Apple now has 1 million unique users of its new iPhoto app for the iPad and iPhone. It took just 10 days to gain those users.
The number represents unique users and not the number of downloads which means it will have been downloaded a lot more than that due to people having multiple iOS devices.
Apple TV Teardown Reveals More RAM

As well as launching a new iPad last week, Apple also launched the 3rd generation Apple TV. The new version had a few new features with the main one being that it is now capable of playing back 1080p TV.
