1GB Now and Then

1GB now and then
Maybe this should be named then and then as SD memory has jumped up way more then 1GB. However, this photo is a side by side comparison of a 1GB HDD made by IBM about 20 years ago and a 1GB SD card from a couple of years ago. Its amazing how technology has advanced in these past 20 – 30 years.

Russian Jet Train

Jet Train
This is a train from Russia built in the early 70s. With the jets attached to the top it could reach 180mph which is very fast. The jets came from a Yak-40 passenger plane. Another test they did was attach jet engines to a boat which could force the boat to travel up to 60mph on water.

Hanging Chair

Hanging Chair
Chairs are needed in most places. They come in many shapes and sizes. The latest I came across is the hanging chair which opens flat and can be hung on the wall like a piece of art work. Put in the words of the creator…

intertwines the emotion of art with the single poetics of form following function.

Yeah… its a chair that folds flat and hangs on a wall. Thats my English translation of the above quote.

iPod in HD

iPod HD
The iPod generally has a screen just 1 – 2 inches in size. The Meridian iRIS iPod dock claims that it can offer iPod video in full HD at 1080p. The dock costs less then $400 and can connect to a HDTV through HDMI. I am unsure if that is upsized to fit 1080p or if thats playing true 1080p content from the iPod. If the latter is the case then you need to pick up one of the highest capacity iPods around.

Darth Vader Alarm Clock

darthvader-clock
Waking up is often a difficult task for some people. Maybe having a Darth Vader alarm clock next to you might solve that problem. This one can project the time on to a wall or ceiling and is visible night and day. The snooze button doubles as a night light so you can read under a glowing lightsabre (its not real ;)). The Darth Vader clock will set you back $29.99.

WheelSurf

This crazy thing is called the WheelSurf which is a large wheel you sit in and roll around. There is no steering or braking and it works on gravity. Just find a hill and you are rolling. The video is quite funny towards the end when one of them kind of wipes out.
