USB Rechargable Battery

by Matthew Newill on September 20, 2006

Moxia have come up with a genius idea of making a battery that can be charged via USB. The batter is an actual AA battery with the top part which flips open to reveal the USB connector. Just plug the USBCell in to your PC/Laptop and it will charge. They cost around £12.99 for a pair which is not bad considering you do not need to carry around a battery charger.

The down side of the batteries are that they are not as powerful as rechargeables which are already lower then regular AA batteries. Still, I think this is a good idea and very handy to have a couple of these around in emergencies.

New Sony Notebooks

by Matthew Newill on September 15, 2006

Sony are introducing a new line of notebooks ready very soon. There are several being launched from the N10 through to the top of the line AR20. What ads to AR20 is the addition of a blu-ray burner and it has a nice 17" high def screen which boasts a nice 1920x1200 screen size.

Other features which come on this notebook are a hybrid digital and analogue tuner, HDMI output and 2GB ram. This looks like it will be an excellent new range of notebooks and I look forward to testing one of these.

USB Roll Up Piano

by Matthew Newill on September 12, 2006

Recently I have been seeing more and more USB devices such as Christmas trees, fans and now there is the USB Roll Up Piano. Who knows if this is new or not? It's new to me, so I will report it still. The older roll up piano has been out a year or so now. The newer version is a smaller USB version which connects direct in to your PC.

The piano can be found on the Argos website and sells for £24.99.

Engadget got their hands on some live shots of the Black Diamond smartphone. Currently the phone is a prototype. It has become well known around the internet because of it's huge price tag of $300k. 5 of these phones are going to be made and will each feature a 400Mhz cpu, Wifi, and quadband GSM. Check out the pictures below.

I have never heard of Helium Digital, but they have made a nice headset featuring an LCD display on the side. The number just displays simple information such as the number of the person calling and also gives the connection status which is useful in it's self with connections occasionally dropping.

The headset will cost $80 and goes on sale next month.

Digisniper.com have written a nice article on how to spot fake memory cards. To be honest, I never thought that this would be something that would happen, but was amazed at the details this article gives about detecting fake cards.

The iBreath is a device which connects to your iPod. The device has a tube sticking out of the side so you can blow down it to measure your alchohol content level. This is accurate to 0.01 BAC. To add a twist to this, the device doubles up as an FM transmitter. It makes you wonder if the device will not work when your level is too high :)

The iBreath costs $50 although I think 1 drink is too many to drive! So be careful out there.

TV-B-Gone

by Matthew Newill on September 11, 2006

This device is good for 1 thing. Switching of pretty much any TV that you point it at. I am not sure if that's a good thing although it would be entertaining shutting down all the TV's in a highstreet retail store.

LG VX8600

by Matthew Newill on September 11, 2006

It seems that LG are introducing a new "chocolate phone" to the market although details are scarce. It features a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD, as well as Vcast. The last chocolate phone was the LG VX8500 which has a round navigation button as opposed to the square one found on the new VX8600. If the VX8600 is as good as the VX8500 then this will be a good phone.

XBox 360 Laptop

by Matthew Newill on September 11, 2006

For about 2 years I have been visiting BenHeck.com because of his custom made portable gaming system's he makes. He has custom made many from an Atari 2600 to now an XBox 360. Check out the new laptop below :)

The laptop xbox 360 packs a number of things inside it's relativly small casing such as a HD LCD screen, water cooled custom built radiator. The water cooled radiator allows a smaller form as the heat sinks in the xbox 360 are HUGE.

XBox 360 Laptop

He has added a built in keyboard, wifi and it has a USB connector with 3 ports. The case is made of aluminium. It also has various connectors on the back to connect a variety of other screens if the inbuilt HD wide screen is not big enough for you.
