8Gb Memory Stick DUO

Memory Stick DUO
It’s about time we get some good meety memory sticks from Sony. The latest and greatest is the MSX-M8GS which has 8Gb of memory on it. Thats a fair bit and a good amount to backup a few movies and games on to. Before you go and fork out 325 dollars for one of these, you need to make sure your device is compatible. If you run a Sony PSP then it needs to have at least firmware 2.81. I am not sure as of yet that anything lower might be made compatible through home brew, but with the announcement that V3.xwas cracked open earlier this month then it might be worth upgrading anyway.

Of course, 325 dollars is a tad over the top for most people wanting an 8Gb memory stick. No doubt prices will drop over the next 6 months, so keep in mind that if you really want one then consider just waiting a little longer. No doubt in 6 -12 months time the next step in storage will have happened though and 16Gb Memory stick DUO’s will be available.

Larger DS Screen

DS
Recently a number of rumours have been circulating that the Nintendo DS will soon sport a larger and better screen. The new screen will be around the 3.5 to 3.8 inch size which will certainly make the DS more competitive against the Sony PSP. If the rumour is correct then the new DS should be out mid 2007.

GranTurismo 5

Sony have also revealed online and network services provided through the PS3 which can offer some great functions for users and developers.

XMB (Xross Media Bar) is the way in to the Playstation network and this is the basis of the navigation system for the console. Through XMB you can access games, network and web connectivity and other media features such as audio and video. If you are a user of the Sony PSP (Playstation Portable) then you will be familier with how XMB works.

MotorStorm

The PS3 will be available as a 20Gb model and a 60Gb model retailing at $499 and $599 respectivly. It will come with the cell broadband engine, built in BD player, internal HDD as mentioned above, it will have HDMI output as standard (cable not included), a wireless controller known as SIXAXIS and network capability. It seems like the 60Gb model will include wifi only.

The controller costs $49.99 for the SIXAXIS. A memory card adapter is available for $14.99 which has the ability to transfer your PS2/PS1 saved games on to the harddrive of the PS3. The BD remote control will sell for $24.99.

New Site

Hello All… we decided to make the PSPGameSpot.com site use the wordpress interface as the content we were adding before was more geared to news rather then a forum approach. We will bring back the forum soon for those who want to continue talking there. For now, you can read about the latest titles, hardware, homebrew etc… for the Sony PSP.

Sony 4Gb Pro Duo

Sony have launched their huge (but small) 4Gb Pro Duo memory stick. Ideal for PSP’s and downloading your videos on to it as well as images and such. Other good news is that it comes with a convertor to make it in to the regular sized memory stick which are more compatible with card readers.

Nintendo DS Gets a Browser

The Nintendo in my opinion has lagged behind the PSP because of the lack of the internet access. The DS was not designed as a web browser. The Opera Browser will cost $33 and come with an expansion pack to give it more of a boost.

How to Flash a DS Lite

This video over on Youtube shows how you can flash your DS lite and start to play SNES games on it. The video is interesting and the article is an interesting read too. I love playing my old games on handhelds. My PSP is great for this also! and a heck of a lot easier then the DS and flashing it.
