YouTube Instant

Google Instant launched a couple of days ago. The service works by updating the search results as you type in a query which helps you to find things more quickly as well as take hints at what you might be looking for.

Now that Google Instant is available, it’s time to unveil YouTube Instant. YouTube instant isn’t an official Google [GOOG] service. It was created by Feross Aboukhadijeh who is a student at Stanford University.

The idea works in a similar way to how Google Instant works in that as you type something in the search box, the content of the page gets updated. In this case, a new video is pulled with what YouTube Instant thinks you are going to want to type in. [Read more…]

HDR Video Created with two Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLRs

The video below is a demonstration of what HDR video looks like. The HDR video was created by putting two Canon 5D Mark II digital SLR cameras together. By using a beam splitter they were able to get the cameras to look at exactly the same object. Each camera has a slightly different exposure setting and when the two are combined, it creates the HDR video.

The full details of how this was accomplished are not provided. As can be seen in the results below though, it looks great. [Read more…]

Adobe iPhone Packager Software Moving Forwards Again

Apple yesterday announced that third party apps could be used to develop iPhone apps. This was a big u-turn from the previous decision that had been made.

The decision to block third party apps was made earlier this year and which point, forced Adobe to stop developing the iPhone Packager software as it was no longer allowed to create apps for iPhone. Now that Apple [AAPL] has changed it’s stance, Adobe has announced that development of the iPhone Packager Software is now moving forwards again. [Read more…]

Apple Patent Reveals Clip on Zoom Lens for iOS Devices

Apple [AAPL] might be launching a clip on zoom lens for iOS devices. The information comes from a patent found by Patently Apple that reveals a small attachment that clips to a device such as the iPod touch or iPhone.

We have seen a few different third-party lenses before for the iPhone, but none of them were officially created by Apple.

It is unknown at the moment if Apple will move ahead with the idea, or if it will just stay an idea. We suspect that with the increasing pace that technology changes that a need for this type of lens might be irrelevant if the glass and optics of the small cameras can be enhanced enough within the body of the phone. Apple Changes Stance on Third Party Tools in iOS

Apple [AAPL] has changed it’s stance on using third party tools in the development of iOS apps. Prior to this change the tools were banned which included Adobe Flash CS5.

It’s certainly a surprising move and one which we assume developers will jump on. [Read more…]
