Internet Explorer 9 reaches 2 million downloads in its first 48 hours

We posted earlier that IE 9 would not be running on Windows with XP and it looks as though 2 million people aren’t too worried about that either especially as those 2 million downloads were all with in IE 9’s first 48 hours.

Microsoft announced that they have been overwhelmed by the amount of praise that they have received, as when IE 8 was released back in 2008, downloads for that only reached 1.3 million over 5 days by comparison.

With Window’s ‘beauty of the web’ campaign’, the popularity of IE 9 has trumped that of many other web browsers currently available. This allows Microsoft to advertise what IE’s latest instalment is truly capable of by inviting as many partners as possible to take part in creating websites that utilise what IE 9 has to offer.

Microsoft’s Roger Capriotti stated that…

“All in all, we are encouraged about the very early response to the IE9 release this past week, namely because it signals that the emphasis on making websites shine through Windows is resonating,”
