Garmin have delayed the launch of the Nuvifone G60 again. The last launch details mentioned it would be announced and quite probably be made available in the first half of 2009. Now it seems that it will be launched quarter 3 of this year. The reason behind the delay is due to the production capability of both Asus and Garmin who are working together to launch this navigation phone.
In my opinion it’s not a good time to delay a phone as other new smartphones are already about to enter the market which includes a rumoured iPhone V3 as well as the big launch of the Palm Pre next month on the 5th June.
The Nuvifone G60 is a fantastic and very functional phone, so hopefully we wont be kept too much longer from seeing it hit the shelves. When launched it is expected to cost $500 off contract.
I guess Garmin is facing problems with Nuviphone as their aren’t accustomed to the Cellphone market. However, I hope Touch screen phones are still in fashion by the time they manage to launch this one!!!
When they announced the phone last year ( or was it 07?), it was among the best touch phones in the market…however, there has been so much delay, that by the time this comes out, it won’t have any exciting features…it’ll just be like another run-off-the-mill phone! no?
