RAM Hair Pins

RAM Hair pins
These hair pins have 256 Meg of RAM attached to them. They are attached with industrial adhesive which will only break with the impact of a hammer or similar force. Not the best thing money can buy, but I guess someone must want them.

Available from Etsy for $5.

Recycled Circuit Board Fridge Magnet

Recycled Circuit Board
By making use of an old recycled circuit board this fridge magnet is a perfect present for any geek. It has the circuit board, 2 keyboard keys and a couple of electrical diodes. The magnet is strong enough to not let it slip when attached to a fridge door and is a geeky way of leaving notes for your loved ones.

You can pick one of the circuit board fridge magnets for $8.00 from Etsy.

Worlds Fastest Memory – 6Gbps

worlds_fastest_memory_gddr5
Samsung have been busy creating some fast memory. It is not just fast memory though… it’s the Worlds fastest memory. It runs at 6Gbps and operates at just 1.5V which is less power then the previous versions such as the PS3 (GDDR3). NVIDIA and ATI will be taking delivery’s of this new chip in the first half of next year.

When launched the GDDR5 will have a density of 512Mb (16MBx32) and will be able to shift moving images and data at 24Gbps.

I look forwards to seeing some benchmarks on this thing as it does sound amazing.

Datopal SIM Card Multi Reader

OTH-READER-12IN1
The Datopal SIM card multi reader has the ability to read a vast amount of cards. As the name suggests, it can read SIM cards from mobile phones (both GSM and CDMA). Other cards this reader can use are SD\Mini SD\MMC\RS-MMC\T-Flash\Micro SD\MMC Micro\MS and SIM Cards. The device is USB 2.0 and backwards compatible with USB 1.1. The reader is also plug and play allowing you to connect it up to any PC and quickly transfer data from the source card. Datopal have also put in backup capabilities allowing you to quickly backup and restore data from your SIM card.

Overall I would say this is a very handy device to have as backups are key. Basically it sucks to loose your phone or any data. By having this reader you can keep a copy of everything.

Cool Feet for your Laptop

Cool Feet
One of the basic requirements of a PC is that it needs to be kept cool. Laptops occasionally struggle with this part due to the makers cramming more power in to smaller spaces. A number of laptops have vents underneath, which when placed on a desk do not allow a clean airflow to the inside of the laptop. Cool Feet is a new product which is simple in that it gives your laptop more breathing room underneath by raising the back up slightly on two small cool feet.

The benefits of having a cool running laptop is that it can run faster due to the excess heat being released easier. It can also prevent heat damage to furniture and it’s easier on the hands as the angled keyboard is easier to type on.

Cool Feet come in two heights so you can fit them as appropriate for your needs.

Star Wars Case Mod

star-wars-mod_5638
I have seen many case mods dotted around the internet which are inspired by many movies and games. The latest and greatest is the StarWars case mod which is modelled around the Millennium falcon of Star Wars.

Now, let’s have a look at the components used for this custom base star war toy. A multi-colored cycling power light, dual hard drive activity headlights, blue EL-string engine bay, 6 exhaust fans for cooling, dual hard drives including one with window, Power, reset, and engine light switches in cockpit.

Impressed I imagine. It does not stop with just the case though. The Modder has also made an X-Wing in to a mouse. This modded case is truly one of the great ones to have been created. More pictures can be found after the jump.

Spider Pig Speaker and Radio

Pig iPod Speaker
This spider pig can play music through it’s nose. It connects to your PC or iPod and pumps out the music from either device. If you want to use it as a radio then that’s no problem either as it has a built in FM tuner. It’s ears control the volume and radio channel and the pig can be powered by either 4 AAA batteries or USB.

Rubber Duck Computer Mouse

optical-ducky
A rather different approach to the computer mouse has been created. We see many different mice in different shapes and different sizes. The next to join the ranks of “weird” is the rubber duck mouse. The mouse it’s self is fairly standard with it’s 2 buttons and optical sensor along with a scroll wheel. What you will find inside though is a rubber duck floating around in some liquid enclosed inside. This mouse certainly does add to the fun of computers.

Optimus Maximus – More Versions Coming

optimax-configurations
For those of you who do not (or cannot) shell out $1564 on a 113 key Optimus Maximus keyboard but still want to get in on some of that OLED keyboard action there is good news for you. Optimus have announced that 3 new configurations of the keyboard will be available. The new configurations come in 1, 10 and 47 programmable keys which weigh in at $462, $599 and $999 respectively. Although the idea of a 1 OLED key keyboard sounds a little lame, I actually do think the 10 and 47 key versions could do well as they make for great programmable keyboards.

Siemens Laptop does Ultrasound

siemens-p50-ultrasound-mobile-system
Siemens Medical Solutions have created a laptop named the P50 which is designed to aid the medical industry. It weighs just 5 kilos and packs a number of cool features in. It is designed for use in vascular applications as well as in operating rooms and anesthesiology departments. The cool feature that got my attention was it’s ability to be portable and do ultrasound scans. The machine is built around an Apple Mac Book and has 2GB RAM with a 160GB HDD.

Another benefit of this machine is that it can connect to the internet and email can be done also as it runs regular MS Office apps. Mix this with portable ultra sound scanning you have a perfect way of communicating images back to the main office and specialists for review.

USB Cable Holder

usbholder
You may get bugged each time a cable drops down the back of your desk. The USB Cable holder tackles the problem by keeping the cable in grasping distance by catching hold of the connector on the end of the wire. Most cables will be caught and it will eliminate trips crawling around the floor under your desk.

Two versions are available with the first catering for a desk up to 2.5 cm thick and the next for tables 4.5cm thick. The cable holder costs $11 from here.
