The Lowrance iWAY 600C is new in to the GPS market. It looks like this one will do well because of integrated satelite imagery which can be put on to the top of regular road maps. Currently the satellite images are only available in some main cities, but this is a great step forwards and no doubt the map updates that can be done through a USB port will also run updates for satellite images. I am not sure yet if you can upload custom satelite images or OS type maps, but if not then the device has still jumped in to a corner of the market not really tapped in to yet.

The iWAY 600C has the option of 2D and 3D maps and the usual turn by turn voice instructions which we are all familier with. The device runs on a 30Gb HD which can be used to store the images on. The screen is quite large at 5″ and runs at a nice resolution of 640 x 480. Going back to the hard drive, 85% is used for storing satellite images leaving the remaining 15% for updates to use. Hopefully the device’s internal drive can be upgraded as more sat images fill it’s memory, although you might not really need to keep high res images of the whole world if you only plan on visiting a city once. Just upload it for when you are there.

The A4Tech Optical mouse is an interesting mouse because it does not require batteries. It is also wireless which is what makes this mouse interesting. Instead of using batteries it is powered by electromagnetic induction which charges from the mouse pad. The mouse pad gets it’s power from the USB connection of your PC and then transmits this power to the mouse to keep it running. I think this is a great idea. Cordless mice batteries do last quite a while, but when they die you tend to not be prepared and have to dash to the shops quickly.

It has a resolution of 800dpi and and might not make it to this side of the world. It is priced at $21 over in Korea.

WirelessHD is set for a launch in 2008. WirelessHD works on the idea of having everything connected together without cables. Just looking around the back of my TV shows that this idea is great. I have several cables behind my TV and without touching them they get tangled and look a mess.

WirelessHD is a joint venture between LG, Panasonic, NEC, Samsung, SiBEAM, Sony and Toshiba. It is named WirelessHD or WiHD and it is intended to enable high definition audio and video streaming to consumer electronic devices. The system will run on the 60Ghz frequencies and data transmit speeds are supposed to be incredible. This in turn will create point to point display for HDMI and DVI.

The Hal 5 is an exoskeleton. So whats an exoskeleton? An exoskeleton is kind of a suit that you wear that boosts your strength. Hal 5 is set to strengthen you by a number of times. I hear you wondering what is this useful for? Well, for those who lift heavy items daily it will be very useful. People like nurses will benefit because it will make lifting patients a sinch.

Hela have created an ergonomic mouse layout. The motion of reaching over to your mouse all day apparantly causes wrist pain and is not ideal. The Hela Glider mouse is set to combat this by putting the mouse in the middle of the keyboard (just below it). It reminds me of air hockey and glides on a pad. The response and precision is supposed to be excellent. I am not fully convinced about the wrist pain from a regular mouse. I never have a problem, but maybe that research is correct 😉

Sony are great when it comes to style and cramming a lot in to a small space. The G1 is the latest to hit the market and weighs in at less then 2 lbs.. 1.8 lbs to be precise. It has a 12.1 inch display, 1.5Gb RAM and an 80Gb hd. It’s a similar size to previous models but the case it made of carbon and this is what helps it loose it’s weight. The battery has a nice life of 12 hours and thats the on board battery.
