HTC has confirmed that the latest version of Google Android (Jelly Bean 4.1) will be coming to the One X and One S.

Pocket for iOS Updated to Version 4.1 – Coming to Android

A few weeks ago the popular Read It Later app was renamed to Pocket. The company behind it has now released a new update for iOS bringing it up to version 4.1. Several new features include a page flipping mode which allows you to flip forwards or backwards through pages. Also, new themes have been added to make reading a little easier such as Sepia and a dark theme.

Google Maps for Android has received another update. This time the version number is raised to 6.7 and with it, a number of new features have been added. New features include indoor walking directions as well as integration with Google Offers.

Samsung Galaxy Note users are now getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The update went live and was made available to Note users as an OTA package. The upgrade is 319MB in size and includes the new TouchWiz interface.

Samsung Galaxy S II Gets the Android 4.0 Update

Samsung Galaxy S II users are now beginning to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The update has begun rolling out in a few countries in Europe which includes Poland, Hungary as well as Sweden. Samsung is running the update cycle in stages starting with the three countries just mentioned and after that, it will spread further across Europe.

Android Market Switches to Google Play

Google has changed the name of the Android Market and has combined it with a service called Google Play. Google Play is now the new name of the Android Market, Google Music and the Google eBook Store. What the new service does is allow you to access all of your content across all of your Google devices. An example would be that you download a book on your Android Smartphone. All other devices (including computers) connected up to the Google Play account will immediately get that book downloaded and when opening up the book on another device, you’ll be able to continue where you left off.

Android App Size Limit Changed from 50MB to 4GB

Google has increased the app size limit for apps from 50MB to 4GB. The move will allow developers to upload apps that are more than 50MB in size which would essentially allow for larger game apps, some of which can be over 1GB in size.

OnLive for Android Launches

OnLive Desktop for the iPad launched recently. The service allows users to access a virtual Windows 7 based computer remotely so that spreadsheets can be edited and flash content can be browsed online. This app for connecting to that service is now available for Android devices.

As well as announcing the HTC One V, the company has also revealed the HTC One X. This device is the first quad-core device available from the company. The One X runs a 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and has other impressive specs.
