One of the basic requirements of a PC is that it needs to be kept cool. Laptops occasionally struggle with this part due to the makers cramming more power in to smaller spaces. A number of laptops have vents underneath, which when placed on a desk do not allow a clean airflow to the inside of the laptop. Cool Feet is a new product which is simple in that it gives your laptop more breathing room underneath by raising the back up slightly on two small cool feet.

The benefits of having a cool running laptop is that it can run faster due to the excess heat being released easier. It can also prevent heat damage to furniture and it’s easier on the hands as the angled keyboard is easier to type on.

Star Wars Case Mod

I have seen many case mods dotted around the internet which are inspired by many movies and games. The latest and greatest is the StarWars case mod which is modelled around the Millennium falcon of Star Wars.

Now, let’s have a look at the components used for this custom base star war toy. A multi-colored cycling power light, dual hard drive activity headlights, blue EL-string engine bay, 6 exhaust fans for cooling, dual hard drives including one with window, Power, reset, and engine light switches in cockpit.

Impressed I imagine. It does not stop with just the case though. The Modder has also made an X-Wing in to a mouse. This modded case is truly one of the great ones to have been created. More pictures can be found after the jump.

The Konaki GPS navigation unit has a 3.5 inch touch screen display which can display 65K colours. The GPS unit is a 20 channel receiver which is integrated in to the casing allowing you to walk around with just the one device. Memory is expandable up to 2Gb as it has a built in SD card slot although the 1GB bundled card should suffice for keeping maps on it as it has the whole of the US map data on that card. The processor which powers the device is a 400MHz Samsung and the device runs Windows CE 4.2 in the background. As well as just being a navigation device you can put media on to your SD card and play back both audio and video as well as use the device as an E-Book reader.

iPod docks are everywhere on the market. However, I believe that none look as good as the Thodio iBox which comes from Amsterdam. It was created a couple of years back and each case is handcrafted from 15mm of beech, oak, teak, zebrano or mahogany. Inside the box you will find a battery which can keep the dock pumping out music for 15 hours on one charge. This does away with the need of carrying cables around. The sound is produced by 2 x 25 watt amps and a pair of Focal Polyglass 100CV1 full range speakers.

An optional extra is Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to stream music from your phone or PC direct to it with out wires. This feature will set you back another ‚¬149.

Prices for the Thodio iBox start at ‚¬359 for the MDF version and go up to ‚¬549 for a deluxe finish.

The Cave is a bookshelf with built in chair allowing those avid book lovers to find a comfy space to read away. It was designed by Sakura Adachi from Japan and is described as a litteral way to “really get in to your reading”.

Two versions are available. The first costs $7045 and is sized for adults while the smaller version aimed at children costs $4830. They are built in the UK and take around 8 to 12 weeks to be delivered.

Freaking Hot Torch

This triple jet torch fires out flames that reach 2000 degrees C (3652 F). With it being so hot it can melt copper, glass, gold, silver, tin and aluminium. The Green Car powered by Hydrogen

Making use of an on-board reversible Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM for short) fuel cell, we have a car which is powered by distilled water. To get the car moving it requires energy from the sun which is converted to electricity by using solar panels. This electrical charge mixed with distilled water performs a 10 minute electrolytic process. Oxygen and Hydrogen are extracted from the water and then the hydrogen slowly fed in to the PEM which fires up the car and it’s blue LED lights.

A feature of this car as well as it’s fancy fuel cells is the ability for it to find a clear path when driving. If it detects an object it will stop, scan around and find the best way onwards.

It is unclear how much driving time one fuel cell charge will give you. However, a handy addition to it’s specification is it’s ability to use regular batteries should the sun not be shining. It certainly will provide entertainment to any big kid.
