Garmin Edge 500 Cycling GPS Launched

Edge500Garmin are launching the Edge 500 Cycling GPS that features a GPS receiver and provides cycling statistics in a light-weight unit that sits on a handlebar mount.

Samsung WB5000 Coming this Month

samsung-wb5000Samsung have announced that they are launching the WB5000 compact digital camera. It has a 12.5 megapixel sensor along with 24x optical zoom and a 26mm wide angle focal length. By having a 24x optical zoom it is capable of a focal range of 624mm.

The camera is also capable of capturing images in HD at 720p in H.264 format.

‘Photographers of all skill levels are going to be drawn to the WB5000’s features, said Choong Hyun Hwang, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Samsung Digital Imaging Company. ‘The versatility of the lens gives any user, whether you’re a soccer mom on the sidelines or an enthusiast looking to create a stunning image, the ability to be prepared for just about any shooting scenario.Serious shooters will gravitate toward the WB5000’s aperture and shutter priority modes as well as full manual control and RAW support. Nokia N97 Mini Introcuced

Nokia-N97-miniIt’s a busy day for Nokia news today. More from Nokia Conversations provides details on the Nokia N97 mini that was unveiled just this morning over in Stuttgart.

The new N97 mini has new homescreen widgets as well as some usability improvements. 8GB of storage can be found inside and it has a decent sized 3.2 inch touchscreen as well as a full QWERTY slide out keyboard.

The N97 mini measures just 14.2mm in thickness and has the same design as the regular N97 apart from it being slightly smaller. [Read more…]

Casio Launches 2 Budget Exilim Digital Cameras

ex-z280Casio are launching 2 new budget cameras in their Exilim range of cameras. The first is the Casio EX-Z280 that is a mid-range-budget camera that has 12.1 megapixels, a 4x optical zoom and can capture video at a HD resolution of 720p. Face recognition is also included in the camera making it a very handy and powerful budget camera.

The EX-Z280 will cost just $180 at launch making it very affordable too. Next it’s on to the Z33 which is the real budget offering. [Read more…]

Canon-EOS-7DUpdate: Canon EOS 7D Available at Amazon. DPReview have posted a preview of the Canon EOS 7D to see what extras it brings to the Canon EOS range of cameras. Due to stronger competition from the Sony Alpha range of cameras and Nikon’s D200 and D300 cameras it now means that Canon have to step up even more to get noticed.

The camera has a new 18 megapixel sensor and has an impressive viewfinder with a 1.0% magnification showing 100% of the frame rather than a 95% viewfinder that is in the EOS 50D. DPReview mention the 50D in their 7D review but say it’s not based at all around it. [Read more…]

Inside Sony’s new DSLR Cameras

Sony-Aplha-DSLR-Image-SensorSome interesting images of the new Sony Aplha range of DSLR cameras have been shown over at PC Mag. The images show how the new Live View features work and what actually goes on inside the camera to make it work.

The A500/550 will also feature an advanced version of “Live View” shooting , using your LCD as a viewfinder. Most cameras that offer “Live View” can’t offer the fast phase-detection auto-focusing system that is in use when using the optical viewfinder. This is because “phase detection” auto-focus works by using a transparent mirror that reflects light from the lens downward and upward. Light goes downward to a small sensor that performs auto-focus, and the upward to provide the same image to the optical view finder so you can see what you’re shooting.
