Ovi Maps Racing hits Symbian Phones

After just announcing that over 1 million downloads of Ovi Maps Navigation were done in the first week of it being made free, we came across this cool little game called Ovi Maps Racing that allows you to race around streets anywhere on the globe.

The cool looking game has the ability to track your current location and allows you to create your own race from the streets where you live. The software lets you build your own tracks up by specifying which way to turn at various junctions.

Map data for the game is taken from Ovi Maps Navigation that gets it’s data from NAVTEQ. The software was created by a company called RedLynx and is compatible on all touchscreen phones that are based on Symbian^1 that includes the Nokia N97 Mini, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition as well as other phones.

‘We had a chance to create a completely new type of mobile game with Nokia, which utilizes real life maps says Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. ‘As with previous titles developed for Nokia, Ovi Maps Racing has really allowed us to augment our knowledge pool.

The Ovi Maps Racing game is available for download now over at the Ovi store and is free for a limited time.
