Nintendo 3DS to Launch in October this Year

Several weeks ago the Nintendo 3DS was announce. The 3DS is a portable handheld from the DS range that brings 3D to the small screen. One of the surprising features of the 3DS was it’s ability (supposedly) to provide 3D imagery without the use of glasses.

When we first heard the announcement it was mentioned that we should see it in about a years time. We now hear that the Nintendo 3DS could be joining us as early as October this year. It is expected that an official announcement will be made at E3.

It is unclear at the moment why the Nintendo 3DS is being launched 6 months before the expected date.

“In my experience, you don’t launch a product that early to Christmas unless you’re confident in it – and going to spend a lot of money on it. We’re reassured that Nintendo is going to give it some decent backing in Q4.”

As well as playing 3DS specific titles the Nintendo 3DS will also play regular DS games without any problems.

Right now there are no specific launch dates within October that we have heard other than CVG suggesting a launch on 10/10/10 being a possibility.
