iPhone 5 Redesign Might Not Happen

A number of people believe that the iPhone 5 will be different to the iPhone 4 in terms of design. Some suggest that tapered edges (like the iPad 2) will be part of the design. Some think a slimmer model with a larger screen will be made. Some cases have hinted at slightly different dimensions as have other leaked details. But, we are hearing now that Apple could be keeping almost the exact same design in the new model.

The information this time comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who says the design is almost the same other than it being very slightly thinner due to a smaller in physical size camera being used. Other key points made include:

* 512MB RAM – Lower than we expected as it’s the same as the iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
* 3.5 Inch Display – Rumours hinted at a 3.7 or 4 inch screen in the past, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 5th gen model stay the same as the rest.
* Slightly Slimmer Camera – As expected, but not much of a change. This “might” make the iP5 slimmer than the iP4, but not by much.
* Glass on front and back. If this is the case, we could see exactly the same design as before.

For those who wanted a new design you might be disappointed if the information by Kuo is correct. However, in our experience of reports in the past, they’ve often not been quite right.
