Yesterday Apple [AAPL] pushed out a new update for iPhone owners that takes iOS 4 to iOS 4.0.1. The small update includes the fix for the formula to show the correct amount of bars which were previously misrepresented.
This is the only update listed in the update text which reads…
Improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display
It is important to note here that the update does not fix the antenna issues and if you lost signal before by holding your iPhone 4, you’ll still lose it now.
The iOS 4.0.1 update is compatible with the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4. To get the update, connect your iPhone up to iTunes and click the check updates button where you will then see the option to update iOS. The process takes a while to complete primarily because the update is over 500MB in size. Once it has downloaded it’s just a few minute task to install after that and you lose no data.
On a side note, Apple is holding a press conference today which we presume will discuss the antenna issues. When the event starts at 6pm UK time this evening, we’ll get all the details to you as soon as possible.
