The ASUS Eee Tablet was introduced at the end of May this year. We now hear that it will launch in October of this year with a price tag under $599.
Originally we heard that the price tag would be $199 – $299 with a September launch. These lower prices of course could be related to subsidised prices though which would fall inline with about how much we’d expect to pay for a tablet with a carrier contract.
The screen on the device is unique in that it’s an LCD TFT, but at the same time it doesn’t have a backlight and it is monochrome with a 0.1s refresh rate. The screen of course is far slower than an iPad screen for example, but is far more responsive than a Kindle. It sits in the middle and is ideal for those wanting an easy-on-the-eyes type screen to read as well as a good way to annotate with pen based input on books.
Battery life for the ASUS Eee Tablet is said to be 10 hours.
