Amazon UK Kindle Store Allows you to Self-Publish Books

With the recent opening of the Amazon Kindle UK store, the Kindle Digital Text Platform has now also arrived in the UK.

“Publishers and authors can now take advantage of the Kindle Digital Text Platform and make their books available to the millions of customers that visit Amazon.co.uk,” said Greg Greeley, Amazon Vice President, European Retail. “Sales of Kindle books in the US continue to rise and we are now selling more Kindle books than hardcovers. We expect to see a similar pattern in the UK with publishers and authors benefitting from greatly increased sales as a result of adding their titles to the new Kindle Store via the Kindle Digital Text Platform.”

DTP allows users a quick way of uploading their content to the Kindle store in the UK to sell. The books you upload are in turn, made available to Amazon Kindle users as well as those who use the Kindle reader software on Android, PC, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch devices.

Amazon recently made improvements to the Digital Text Platform such as a more intuitive ╦ťBookshelf’ feature and a simplified process for publishing. Additionally, publishers and authors can upload and make available their books in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. They are also able to set the digital list price for their titles on Amazon.co.uk in pound sterling.

Details of the program can be found over at Amazon.

I’ve completed a book called A Pracitcal Guide to Starting a Bed & Breakfast. I would like to epublish with Amazon, but can’t find out how to do this! It appears very complicated, requiring US tax numbers or accounts. Can epublishing be done from this country? I’ve looked at Smashwords and now feel completely disheartened! Thanks Wendy
