More rumours are here today about the Apple [AAPL] tablet that was rumoured to be launched early next year. Reports are now saying that the tablet will move back to the 2nd half of 2010.
Reasons for the delay are due to some changes being made to some of the components which includes a 9.7 inch OLED display built by LG.
Two models have been mentioned which include a 10.6 inch TFT LCD display while a 9.7″ OLED panel will also be made available as mentioned above. [click to continue…]

TechCrunch are reporting that a new HTC phone running Android is just around the corner. Described as the next “super” Android Device, it is expected that HTC are to be the ones who will build the phone. Also TC mention that senior Android guys over at Google have now started carrying one of the HTC phones around for testing.
It is expected that the Dragon/Passion will be a super slim phone running Android… but TC also mention something else interesting in that there will actually be a real Google phone, branded by Google. Although not much is known about this Google branded phone, TC managed to find out that they are definitely working on a phone under their own brand. [click to continue…]

A leak shows that Sony are to launch a new range of TV’s that will probably go on display at CES in 2010 in just a few weeks time. Amongst the new TV’s is a new OLED screen that is a new model from the XEL-1 that was a 3mm thick, 11 inch OLED screen launched last year. As of now it is unknown what size of screen the new OLED TV will be. I’d expect it to be a larger screen to perhaps compete with the new 15 inch LG OLED screen.
Also a new HDTV called the Sony KDL-XBR12 series has been mentioned that uses “high range advanced LED RGB” backlighting to function allowing for blacker blacks due to being able to dim certain parts of the screen individually. [click to continue…]

Neatorama have gathered some interesting facts about Google and put them all in a single blog post over on their site. The various facts include a lego storage case that held 10 x 4GB hard drives allowing enough storage capacity for their PageRank algo to be tested successfully. Another fact mentions that the I’m Feeling Lucky button costs Google around $110 Million a year in lost ad revenues and if you want to know how many servers Google has… you might find out in the blog post, or you might not.
For some interesting facts for a few minutes of your time check out the post.

LG have launched a new website for their new LG GW620 Android based mobile phone. The mini site isn’t really complete yet as it just has the standard Latin? text running down the page. However, what it does have is a set of photos of the phone as well as a spec sheet and a couple of videos showing what the phone can do.
What we do see from the spec sheet is that it will connect on dualband UMTS at 900 and 2100MHz and quadband GSM. The specs also show that Wifi at 802.11b/g as well as Bluetooth and USB are options for connectivity. The phone measures 109 x 54.5 x 15.9 mm and weighs 139g. [click to continue…]

LG and Samsung have been showing off some cool transparent OLED displays. The LG screen measures 15 inches and could work in notebooks. Samsungs screen measures just 2 inches and could potentially be used in mobile phones.
It is unclear why transparent screens are needed unless perhaps used for shining light through to project on to a larger screen, but even if they have no purpose they still look rather good.
Instead of using the back section of the screen that prevents transparency, this has instead been removed. Each has a transparency of 30%. For the LG screen it is unknown what the resolution is, but the smaller Samsung screen can show 176 x 220 pixels. [click to continue…]

Asustek have revealed details on their first supercomputer this week named the ASUS ESC 1000. The ESC 1000 is capable of speeds up to 1.1 teraflops by using NVIDIA graphics processors.
One teraflop is one trillion flops (floating point operations per second), a measure of computing speed. Computers able to perform at such high speeds can be used in a variety of ways, including scientific research, image manipulation, engineering modeling or for medical purposes.
The ESC 1000 is powered by a 3.33GHz Intel LGA1366 Xeon W3580 processor that is designed for use in servers. What really gives this machine a good kick is the amount of processing cores it has. The machine has 960 graphics processing cores provided by NVIDIA with three Tesla C1060 Computing Processors along with a Quadro FX5800 each also provided by NVIDIA. [click to continue…]

The LG BL40 Chocolate mobile phone is unique due to it’s cinematic widescreen display that has an aspect ratio of 21:9 allowing it to play feature length movies with no borders top or bottom. With the BL40 having a large aspect ratio screen the phone is longer than your average mobile phone and though pictures seem to show the phone being a little over sized, when holding it you’ll find that it actually works very well and sits in your pocket very well.
The front of the phone is covered in tempered glass and has a nice glossy shine to it. There are no buttons on the front of the device and it’s just a smooth piece of glass that has just the ear speaker cut out. Both the top and bottom ends of the phone are accented in a vibrant red while the sides continue on the glossy black look of the front along with a thin silver strip that runs the length of the phone on each side. On the back of the phone the black gloss look is continued with just a small cut out for the 5 megapixel camera lens, flash and a small microphone. [click to continue…]

The LG Crystal is known for it’s unique crystal keypad that slides out from behind the device, but did you know it can hold water (un-officially) as well as a couple of little fish? This is what one guy did by creating possibly the worlds first portable mobile phone fish tank.
The owner of the phone took the back off and then put a couple of small fish in the back (I have no idea what sort of fish) and when the back was on he injected some of the fish tank water.
As can be seen in the picture above, the phone actually still works as does the back light on the transparent keypad. Take a look at the video after the jump to witness the madness. [click to continue…]

We recently received the LG GW520 phone for review. The GW520 has a 2.8 inch touchscreen along with a full QWERTY slide out keyboard making it ideal for social networking and messaging. A number of modern phones have virtual keyboards that work well, but for some people they just cannot get to grips with on on-screen keyboard and hence, prefer the physical keyboard instead.
Priced at £169.95 for a pay-as-you-go version the GW520 is at a good price for what you get. It’s not the cheapest of phones but at the same time, it’s not the most expensive, and sits in an affordable bracket.
The phone it’s self feels a little plastic in comparison to LG’s high end phones such as the LG BL40. Also the phone is slightly fatter than other LG phones due to the physical keyboard, however this doesn’t make it an oversized phone and it does sit quite well in your hands. [click to continue…]

In this video presentation we are provided with the real information on how the LG BL40 Chocolate phone is made. When loading up the video you’ll see how it starts off showing the different hand shapes made by Buddah and how this influences phones such as the clamshell, slider and full touch variations we see.
Next in the video it describes how the phone is carved from wood, dipped in to paint and along eventually on to how the touchscreen is made. Finally using acupuncture they bring the phone to life… Check the video out after the jump. [click to continue…]
