Windows Wont Boot? Perhaps an AVG Update Caused It

For those of you running AVG 2011, free version… yesterday’s virus signature update may have caused you problems if you run Windows 7 64-bit. The update yesterday caused a problem with a STOP error which prevents your windows PC from booting up.

If you didn’t update then you were lucky! AVG has now confirmed that it is OK to update and that the problem with the latest update has been rectified.

For those of you whos Windows wont boot, AVG has a few tips to help you get back on your feet again such as using safe mode to run the system restore to the night before the AVG update. Alternative options include using the AVG rescue CD or using the Windows 7 startup repair mode.
