Vodafone [VOD] are not due to sell the Google Nexus One in the UK till this Friday, but we are already hearing reports that they have already sold out of stock in terms of pre-orders being ready to ship.
The information comes from a customer who tried to order one and was told the following…
Thank you for placing your order, reference number [redacted]. Unfortunately we have suffered a surprisingly high demand for the Nexus One From Google, which means that it is unexpectedly out of stock. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We hope to have further stock available within 7-10 working days and will contact you again once your order has been dispatched.
Vodafone only opened up pre-orders a couple of days ago, so selling out in a couple of days is quite an achievement although it also depends on how many units they had in the first place. It seems though that they have underestimated how popular the phone will be here in the UK.
Right now we are not sure how Vodafone is allocating the Google [GOOG] phone, ie, where a certain amount held back from pre-orders leaving some available to collect from store this Friday. I suspect this will be the case and for those who can’t get it through the post it might be worth calling by a local store this weekend.
