Swype for Symbian^3 Launches

The team behind the Swype virtual keyboard have now released a new version for Symbian^3 devices. This includes the Nokia N8 and the Nokia C7 at the moment.

The Swype keyboard, for those that don’t know, is a virtual keyboard that allows you to swipe across the letters on the screen to spell a word. By gliding your finger to each letter without releasing your finger off the screen, you can generally input text faster than tapping away with your thumbs.

Swype indicate that those who use the keyboard correctly can achieve a words per minute rating of about 40 which isn’t too shabby for a virtual keyboard.

Will you be downloading it for your Symbian^3 device? or will you stick to the regular virtual keyboard built in?

  1. Couldn’t get Swype from OVI to work on my new N8 so I download SlideIT keyboard from the OVI instead. SlideIT is awesome once you get the hang of it. Definitely a faster way to input text. I’m using it to write this post.
