Sony PlayStation Vita Available for Pre-Order in the UK

Amazon in the UK has begun listing the Sony PlayStation Vita and has made it available for pre-order. Two versions of the Vita have been made available which includes the WiFi version and the 3G version with the former being priced at £229.99 and the latter at £279.99.

At the moment the suggested release date in the US is the 31st December 2011 although this could change as we get closer to that date. It isn’t known if the UK will follow suit on this and release at the same time.

Back to the different versions: The 3G PS Vita in the US requires you sign up with an AT&T agreement, but at the moment the details of a specific carrier have not been listed. We’re hoping for it to be unlocked and available in a similar way to how the iPad microSIM’s are used (in some cases a 30 day rolling contract).

The technical specs of the Vita show it has an OLED touchscreen that measures 5 inches. The screen has a resolution of 960 x 544 pixels. For connectivity it has WiFi b/g/n built in (as well as 3G on the upper model). Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is also included.
