Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Ready for Pre-order on Vodafone

Vodafone [VOD] have uploaded the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Android phone and made it available for pre-order on their site.

Vodafone has set a delivery date of April 6 which is next Tuesday. The phone it’s self is an Android 1.6 based mobile phone and it happens to be the first that comes from Sony Ericsson. On the back is an 8 megapixel camera and the phone is packed with all the usual stuff we see on smartphones these days including GPS, WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth etc…

It has a large 4 inch capacitive touchscreen that’s not quite the 4.3 inches of the HTC HD2, although still classed as being a large screen.

Right now the Vodafone site just has the 18 and 24 month plans listed for the phone, so it’s not clear if they will offer a SIM free or 12 month version of the phone. On the 18 month contracts you can pick up the phone for free when paying £45/month whilst on the 24 month contracts the free option starts at £35/month.

If you prefer the phone on O2 you can pick it up also for free on a £30/month 24 month contract although to decide you really need to balance out how many text messages and voice minutes you get bundled in for the price.

Orange also will be selling the device along with Virgin who are believed to be offering some good prices on their new phones at the moment. Pricing from Virgin hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
