The Sony Ericsson X8 came with just Android 1.6 installed. Sony Ericsson has now announced that Android 2.1 is beginning to roll out to the smartphone although it is going out in various stages rather than all at the same time.
The roll-out is based on serial numbers. Rather than list all the SI numbers, you can visit the Sony Ericsson product blog to get a list of those numbers that are already getting the update. If your phone isn’t listed then you’ll need to wait a little longer.
What do you think to the X8 getting the 2.1 update. Would you prefer 2.2 or 2.3 when it launches? We get the impression that it will be a while before they do 2.2 if at all.
