The Samsung Galaxy Tab is covered on the front with Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is extra strong glass that can take more of a beating than regular glass. Although the glass was invented as early as the 60’s, it has really only been used in technology for about the last 2 years.
The videos below show a couple of demonstrations as to how tough Gorilla Glass actually is. The owner of the tablet uses a CO2 powered gas gun and manages to fire 3 metal pellets (bb’s) at the screen. There were no scratches left after the test (thankfully). The second test then shows a regular glass being shot and smashed to pieces on the first shot.
