Samsung Galaxy Nexus Launches

As mentioned in the previous post, Google has launched Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The first smartphone that it will be available on is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

A quick look at the technical specs reveal that the device has a 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED Display that can display 1280 x 720 pixels. The chip powering the Galaxy Nexus runs at 1.2GHz and it’s dual-core. The camera captures at 5 megapixels while the one on the front is a 1.3 megapixel camera that can be used for video calls as well as unlocking the device by face recognition. The rear camera of course captures in 1080p full HD.

For connectivity the Galaxy Nexus has HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth and depending on the region you buy it, an LTE version will also be available. USB 2.0 is also included as well as NFC.

When it launches in November (US, Europe and Asia) it will run a standard version of Ice Cream Sandwich (ie, a pure Google experience) which means no customised apps from Samsung.

Pricing details as well as a more accurate launch date are not known yet. Expect it in November though in the regions above.
