Samsung Galaxy Nexus 16GB Priced for the UK

As the day of launch moves on we are now finding out more of the details of the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone. Clove in the UK has just announced that it is selling the 16GB model for £514.80 inc VAT. This is of course the unlocked price. We have also been told that the 32GB model is not coming to the UK. We’ll wait for a bit more clarification on that as it could mean Clove is not stocking the 32GB model or that the larger model will only be available locked and on contract.

The Galaxy Nexus is an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device that will launch in November. So far it has been confirmed on the O2, Vodafone and Three networks and also will be made available unlocked.

The technical specs are as follows:

* Features of Samsung Galaxy Nexus (16GB)
* Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
* 1.2GHz Dual-Core Processor
* 4.65 Super AMOLED Display
* 5MP Rear, 1.3MP Front facing camera
* 16GB Internal Storage
* Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct
* Face Unlock, Android Beam & More
* 3.5mm Audio Jack
* 1GB RAM

As you can see from the specs above, the device is quite a powerful machine. The dual-core processor is clocked at 1.2GHz and should provide a lot of power to apps and games although we need to see what battery life will be like on the device. Some have complained at the camera only being 5 megapixels while its main competitor, the iPhone 4S, has an 8 megapixel camera. Remember that the amount of megapixels isn’t alone an important factor and that the quality of sensor, meaning the speed and low light capabilities, is also another thing that determines if the pictures are good quality. Also remember that the small lens on smartphone cameras is also another limiting factor and something that all smartphones are faced with.

Expect this device to sell well when it launches though as Ice Cream Sandwich looks to be a top notch OS and certainly decent competition for iOS 5. Take a look at the video below to see Android 4.0 in action:
