RIM Launches BBM6 With More Social Support

RIM has just announced and released BBM 6. New features bring more social interaction to the device. The new version now includes support for BBM Connected apps so that users have an easier way to communicate with each other on their smartphones.

BBM Connected Apps allow users to communicate with others via the app they are using. One example could be a game that is being played which has a messaging service built in. Rather than leaving the app, a BBM Connected App allows the user to send a message from within the app.

“BBM 6 marks the beginning of an even greater social experience for BlackBerry smartphone users,” said Alistair Mitchell, VP, BBM Platform & Integrated Services at Research In Motion. “It also represents an incredible opportunity for developers to leverage the viral nature of the BBM service and we have already begun working with various developer partners who will be bringing their BBM connected apps to BlackBerry App World this week, offering users highly engaging app experiences.”

For productivity apps the BBM Connected app could allow users to interact with each other while planning an event as an example.

To download the software you need to visit www.blackberry.com/blackberrymessenger which will be online some time today. Once ready, you can download the new Blackberry Messenger service and begin interacting more social with the apps.
