Orange San Francisco Android Smartphone Announced

Orange has announced the Orange San Francisco Android based smartphone. The San Francisco is the first Orange branded Android smartphone and will also be the first of others to follow.

Price wise, it falls in to the budget category at £99 and can be purchased along with a pay as you go Dolphin tariff.

Specifications reveal that the San Francisco has a 3.5 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The camera on the back can capture images at 3 megapixels. For connectivity it has WiFi, Bluetooth and USB as well as SatNav mentioned which we assume means GPS.

The CPU on the San Francisco is clocked at 600MHz. The device is a Tri-Band phone. It is compatible with 3G+ networks. For storage it has 150MB of internal memory and up to 32GB of storage via a Micro SD card.

Good news is that it runs a fairly recent version of Android which is Android 2.1. Although this isn’t the latest, we have seen other new devices recently launch with 1.6. Hopefully a 2.2 update will be incoming soon.

The video below gives a demonstration of what new smartphone can do.
