Nokia Ship First Symbian Anna Smartphones – The E6 and X7

Nokia has begun shipping two new smartphones called the Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7. Both of these new smartphones contain the latest Symbian update called Anna. Symbian Anna provides a better user experience on Nokia phones (in Nokia’s words – not tested it yet here) as follows:

– Faster and better web experience with an all new browser.
– The long-awaited portrait QWERTY plus split screen text input.
– All new Ovi Maps with public transport routes and other enhancements.

The Nokia E6, pictured above, is a QWERTY touchscreen device. It allows access to Exchange, Sharepoint and Microsoft Communicator Mobile. On the back, an 8 megapixel camera can be found along with auto-focus and a dual-LED flash. The camera is capable of capturing video at 720p. For storage, it has 8GB of internal memory.

Moving on to the Nokia X7 (pictured above), this device has a 4 inch touchscreen along with an 8 megapixel camera with full focus and 720p recording. For storage, it also has 8GB although this is pre-installed on a memory card.

Nokia is currently shipping the Symbian Anna based smartphones to several countries:

The X7 will be available in Europe, Eurasia, China, India and other Asia/Pacific countries, while the E6 will be available in Europe, Eurasia, Asia/Pacific, as well as the Middle East and Africa.

For those with older Nokia smartphones (N8, E7, C7 and C6), Nokia will be pushing out the Anna update in the near future. No specifics are provided other than the compatible models as listed above.
