Nokia Confirms Windows 8 Tablets and Higher-End Lumia Smartphones

Nokia has somewhat confirmed that they will be launching a Windows 8 Tablet next year as well as another Lumia smartphone that will have higher specs than the current Lumia 800.

Speaking to the LesEchos newspaper, the head of Nokia France compared the Nokia Lumia smartphones to the BMW range of cars with the Lumia 800 being the equivalent of the BMW 5 series. This could be seen as meaning the Lumia 710 is the 3 series and then we have room for a 6, 7 and 8 series in terms of smartphones. Rumours of a Nokia Lumia 900 have been surfacing recently.

As well as confirming higher-end Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone the Nokia boss also made comment about Nokia tablets running Windows 8 when it launches. The launch of Windows 8 is expected to be fall 2012 which could be the time that Nokia launches a tablet.

A few points on the aforementioned Nokia Lumia 900, it is believed to be codenamed the Ace and have a 4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen. It is expected to have a 1.4GHz single-core processor and an 8 megapixel camera. 16GB and 32GB of storage is expected. To be honest though, those specs don’t seem like a 6, 7 or 8 series BMW to me if we want to use that comparison.
