New Skype Beta for Mac and Windows Brings Facebook to Facebook Calling

A new beta version of Skype has launched today which brings a handy new feature to both the Mac and Windows versions of the software. The new Skype lets you now message as well as make video calls with people logged in to Facebook.

When you download the new version of Skype you then get presented with the option to connect to Facebook. Once connected you can then see which of your friends are available to chat or make a video call to. Calling them is as simple as tapping a button next to their name.

To see a demonstration of how it works, take a look at the video below. For those who want to download the Beta versions now you can grab them here for the Mac version and over here for the Windows version.

A couple of other features have also been added to Skype with Windows users now getting group screen sharing (Mac users already have that). Also the rendering engine has been updated to make the video smoother for Mac users.
