@comex has revealed a photo showing the new iPad 2 running Cydia. In other words, he’s managed to jailbreak the iPad 2. It isn’t clear when the jailbreak will be made public, but as we can see it is working and Cydia is happily running on the new device.
What we don’t know at the moment is if the jailbreak is iPad 2 only, or if comex has managed to make it compatible with all iOS 4.3 devices. We also are unsure at the moment if the jailbreak is tethered or untethered.
Expect to hear more about this in the coming days or weeks. Depending on how the jailbreak was achieved, ie, is there a weakness in hardware, or a security bug in iOS 4.3, this will determine when the jailbreak is launched. Comex might wait for the UK and other countries to get the iPad on March 25 before releasing. We’ll find out as soon as we can and post the details here.
