On September 23, a new iOS 4.1 jailbreak will be released for the iPhone 3GS and lower devices. This means that for iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4th gen users, you will still have to wait around for another option.
The jailbreak software is called Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and when available, will allow Windows users to create custom firmware files that prevent the baseband being updated when you upgrade the firmware on the phone. What this in turn does is allows you to use Ultrasn0w to unlock the phone so that it can be used on any carrier you want (or any compatible carrier we should say).
Devices supported include…
* iPhone 2G
* iPhone 3G
* iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) – Must be already jailbroken. (If you are jailbroken using Spirit or JailbreakMe, use Spirit2Pwn from http://repo.woowiz.net)
* iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) – Must be currently jailbroken on 3.1.2.
* iPod Touch 1G
* iPod Touch 2G (Non-MC Model)
* iPod Touch 2G (MC Model) – Must be currently jailbroken on 3.1.2.
* iPod Touch 3G – Must be currently jailbroken on 3.1.2.
Although this isn’t the iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 jailbreak we are looking for, it’s still a good step in the right direction.

It looks like it could be on the 3GS. Still digging up information about it as the page for Sn0wbeeze is down at the moment.
when you jailbreak your iphone if can switch it off and on with out need for itune and computer it will be called untethered jailbreak.
If you jailbreak your iphone and you need the computer and itune every time you switch the phone off and on this will be tethered jailbreak, I do not recommend you to use that as it is pain in the neck everytime you switch the phone off, you will need the computer and itune to switched on again.

Trying to decide whether it’s worth downgrading to 3.1.2 then jailbreaking with 4.1 or to wait and use greenpoisi0n when it’s released……
well Paul 4.1 is much quicker or should i say improves speed on 3G nd 3GS also if you have an iphone 4 it adds sum extra things. Like me ima wait for the greenpois0n nd or wait for sum other jailbreak if greenposi0n not released by this week.So Paul u can wait or downgrade.

Chem – it doesnt look like you’ll be able to use this unless you can downgrade and if you haven’t saved your blobs from 3.1.2 you can’t downgrade. Just wait for greenpoison, it should be out soon.
I had jailbroke my iphone 3gs when it was on 3.1.3 ios. After using it for a bit, I seem to notice there was a lot of memory taken by “other” which is unknown to what “other” was defined as. I went through and deleted about everything, but it didn’t touch the “other” memory. I decided to restore and upgrade. I did a full system restore but accetally upgraded to the new ios 4.1. Now I don’t know if I can jailbreak my iphone or if I should downgrade (if possible) or wait it out and see if and when something comes out to jailbreak my iphone. I am so sad without my jailbreak for my iphone is just an “iPhone”. Can anybody please give me advise on what I should do or can do? thanks. -David
You can downgrade from 4.1 done it over and over. You need tiny umbrella run it give u ur ECID run TSS as you restore works fine
If I’m not wrong, official ios upgraded thru iTunes would also upgrade your baseband version. I don’t think this Jb applies to those with ios 4.1 baseband.

don’t know whats going on with the 4g but jailbroke mine and a month later its in a continuous reboot lock/mode , happened to my friends todays as well aprox a month after he jailbroke his , any one know if apple has done something so you have to go itunes every now and then ????
had to link to itunes to sort out the problem and lost my jailbreak .. no more pigcam ,lmao
