Internet Explored Drops Below 50% Global Market Share

A year ago, Internet Explorer had a global market share of 58.37%. A year later it has now dropped below 50% down to 49.87%.

The browser now making the most progress is Google Chrome that has gone from a 3.69% last year up to 11.54% for global share. Although this makes IE almost 5 times more popular, it shows that Chrome is rapidly growing. Other browsers such as Firefox, Safari and Opera have stayed relatively level in the field.

We’ll take another look back in a years time and see where IE, Chrome and Firefox end up. We suspect that Firefox will stay flat and that IE will continue to drop (although slight jump this year when IE9 launches might help). Chrome will continue to catch up though.
