International Version of Galaxy S III Loses Local Search in Latest Update

Samsung has quietly removed the local search features on the international version of the Galaxy S III. The OTA update that became available only made mention of being a stability update but after install the local search functions on the device were removed. This is specifically talking about the built-in Google search app.

The new version of the software is XXBLG6 which was built on July 20th.

We don’t know why Samsung has opted to remove a feature from the device and also are not sure why the opted not to mention it in the upgrade/(downgrade?).

All is not lost though as hackers will be working away at making local search available again through other means, so keep your eyes pealed and look out for unofficial updates that fix the problem.

The update is 27MB in size and can be downloaded OTA or through the Kies update service.
