HTC Hero Android 2.1 Update Arrives

For those using the HTC Hero in the UK, you should now be getting a notification that a new update is available for your Android smartphone. The update hitting the HTC Hero is Android 2.1 from Google [GOOG] which ends months of waiting for it to arrive.

The update is 79.88MB in size and it is recommended that you use WiFi to grab the update. If you haven’t received notification just yet then check out the system updates screen and perform a manual check for the update.

Coolsmartphone points out that the update seems to pause at around 75% but don’t worry as it soon after carries on after a short wait… so don’t attempt to reboot mid update if this happens to you.

From what we understand the update will keep all your apps installed too.

Only the HTC Hero has the update available at the moment and those on Orange and T-Mobile G2 Touch are still having to wait a bit longer.

  1. WIN for AUS gyes, Enjoy 2.1 update, pretty cool both the morning and the notification that 2.1 is ready to be downloaded.
It will perform small update first, will restart, then will do another update which will be 2.1

    enjoy gyes

  2. I already received the update and i follow the instruction and do the updating for my Hero, few bad thgs i discovered after installed it were:
1.Lagging on my phone, not a serious one, minor only
2.I cant link my “People” (Phonebook contacts) to facebook, because andriod 1.5 can link and all the facebook updates and profile photo will appear in my Hero.
3.Online is bit slow and i suspect the Andriod 2.1 cover too much on phone memory.

Any one can give suggestion on this?
