HP TouchPad Release Date is July 1 – Pre-Orders Begin June 19

HP is launching the HP TouchPad on July 1st. The company announced that the TouchPad will be made available for pre-order on June 19. The 1st July release date is for those in the US. The UK, Ireland, France and Germany will all see the TouchPad released a few days later.

HP’s first webOS tablet will be available in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Germany a few days later and in Canada in mid-July, with availability scheduled to follow later this year in Italy and Spain, as well as in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore.

When it launches in the US, the price will be $499.99 for the 16GB model with the 32GB model costing $599.99. In the UK those prices are £399 and £479 respectively.

“What makes HP TouchPad a compelling alternative to competing products is webOS,” said Jon Rubinstein, senior vice president and general manager, Palm Global Business Unit, HP. “The platform’s unmatched features and flexibility will continue to differentiate HP products from the rest of the market for both personal and professional use. This is only the beginning of what HP’s scale can do with webOS.”

For those unfamiliar with the HP TouchPad, it’s a tablet device that runs a new version of WebOS. It has a 9.7 inch screen and works well alongside other webOS devices via touchstone technology.
