HP has confirmed that the Palm Pre 2 will be sold direct from HP as well as through carriers. Doing it this way allows those who just want the handset to be able to buy it without having to get it from a carrier and potentially have it locked or having you sign up for an agreement.
The version sold direct by HP will be unlocked and will allow you to connect it to the network of your choice.
For those who still want a contract or a PAYG version of the phone locked on to a specific carrier then you’ll still have the option to purchase that way if needed.
