Google first launched the +1 button back in March although this was reserved for search results and ads only. Google has now officially launched the +1 button and has made it available for anyone who wants to add the button to their website.
What the button does is allow you to recommend content to friends and contacts.
When you see the Google +1 button (as seen above this post just below the small image), you can click, log in and recommend the content to friends. These recommendations will also be among your friends search results allowing you to see what your friends are interested in.
In the meantime, we’re continuing to roll out the +1 button for English-language searches on Google.com. If you want to +1 search results and search ads earlier, you can opt in through our experimental search site. To see recommendations from your friends and contacts in Google search, make sure you’re signed into your Google Account.
