Dell Venue in US Will be Sold Unlocked

Dell has officially announced that the Dell Venue will be made available to those in the US. The company announced it over at CES 2011 in a press conference that was held. In that meeting, Dell also confirmed that right now they have no carrier partners which means the smartphone will be made available on the Dell.com website.

With no carrier partners, it also means that the device will be sold unlocked. A T-Mobile version might happen from what they’ve said, but the unlocked version wont work on the T-Mobile 3G bands.

Engadget summarize it best by saying it’s basically designed for the AT&T network, but AT&T isn’t yet taking it on board.

As for the technical specs, it has an 8 megapixel camera on the back. It runs Google Android 2.2. It has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and what sounds to be a fairly impressive AMOLED screen that measures 4.1 inches.
