CyanogenMod 7.1 Released – Now Supports 24 More Devices

CyanogenMod 7.1 has finally been released. The new update brings support to a number of new devices allowing you to update your Android smartphone with Cyanogen goodness.

68 devices are currently supported with this update which is a huge increase from the last time I looked at it.

A full list of the new devices supported since the previous release can be found below:

HTC Desire S
HTC Incredible S
HTC Incredible 2
LG Optimus 2X and T-Mobile G2x
Motorola Backflip (Motus)
Motorola Cliq / Cliq XT
Motorola Defy
Motorola Droid 2
Motorola Droid X
Samsung Captivate
Samsung Fascinate
Samsung Mesmerize
Samsung Showcase
Samsung Vibrant
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S2 (multiple carriers)
Sony Ericsson Xperia X8
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play
Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
ZTE V9

As well as supporting the originals and the new devices listed above, the CyanogenMod team is also working on support for several other Android devices which includes the Pyramid, Doubleshot, Shooter, HP Touchpad, Optimus 3D and a bunch of others. Note that the HP Touchpad is listed which indeed isn’t an Android device… however, it can run Android.

The CyanogenMod website has all the details on how to install but recommends you use the ROM Manager. If you already run version 7 of the mod then a wipe isn’t needed.

One thing to remember is that this type of activity is warranty voiding, so if you value your warranty then you best stick with the stock Android operating system that came installed on your smartphone.
